If a faculty member separates from service prior to this ending date, the faculty member will be paid all earned, but unpaid salary in a single lump sum within 30 days of the end of the pay period in which the separation from service occurred. \u201cSeparation from service\u201d has the same meaning as provided in Section 409A of the Internal Revenue Code and includes any voluntary or involuntary termination from service, including, but not limited to retirement or death.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div><div id=\"panel-60-0-0-5\" class=\"so-panel widget widget_smcm-accordion panel-last-child\" data-index=\"5\" ><div\n\t\t\t\n\t\t\tclass=\"so-widget-smcm-accordion so-widget-smcm-accordion-base\"\n\t\t\t\n\t\t><div class=\"smcm-accordion  navy\"><div class=\"title-container\"><h3>Leap Year Salary Calculations<\/h3><i class=\"fa-solid fa-plus open-close\" ><\/i><\/div><div class=\"smcm-accordion-content\"> <div class=\"smcm-ac-content-wrapper\"><p>Every leap year, bi-weekly salaries are adjusted by Central Payroll Bureau (State of Maryland) to accommodate the extra day. The annual salary remains the same.<\/p>\n<p>Employees will have their bi-weekly pay adjusted to the leap year calculation usually beginning with the first full pay period in the fiscal year. \u00a0Bi-weekly salaries will be adjusted back to the normal calculation the next fiscal year.<\/p>\n<p>Example:<br \/>\nCurrent Bi-weekly: 365\/14 = 26.071428 Salary: $40,267\/26.071428 = $1,544.49 (gross bi-weekly)<br \/>\nNew Bi-weekly: 366\/14 = 26.142857 Salary: $40,267\/26.142857 = $1,540.27 (gross bi-weekly)<\/p>\n<p>Difference: \u00a0\u2013 $4.22 ($1,544.49 \u2013 $1,540.27)<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Payroll and Compensation InformationAccessing Pay Stubs All pay stubs must be accessed electronically through the Central Payroll Bureau.
