A Peer Mentor is assigned to each section of Çï¿ûÊÓƵ Seminar and works with the section professor to help ensure that students are adjusting to the academic expectations of St. Mary\u2019s.<\/p>\n<h3>Peer Mentor Duties<\/h3>\n<ul>\n<li>The Peer Mentors help lead discussion<\/li>\n<li>Provide instruction on campus resources<\/li>\n<li>Provide an advanced student perspective within the Seminars<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Peer mentors attend every session of the Seminar section to which they are assigned.<\/strong><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div><div id=\"pg-59-1\"  class=\"panel-grid panel-no-style\" ><div id=\"pgc-59-1-0\"  class=\"panel-grid-cell\" ><div id=\"panel-59-1-0-0\" class=\"so-panel widget widget_smcm-title panel-first-child\" data-index=\"2\" ><div\n\t\t\t\n\t\t\tclass=\"so-widget-smcm-title so-widget-smcm-title-base\"\n\t\t\t\n\t\t><h2 class=\"smcm-section-title navy\" style=\"\"><strong>Become<\/strong> a Peer Mentor<\/h2><\/div><\/div><div id=\"panel-59-1-0-1\" class=\"so-panel widget widget_sow-editor panel-last-child\" data-index=\"3\" ><div\n\t\t\t\n\t\t\tclass=\"so-widget-sow-editor so-widget-sow-editor-base\"\n\t\t\t\n\t\t>\n<div class=\"siteorigin-widget-tinymce textwidget\">\n\t<p>Undergraduate students at St. Mary\u2019s College of Maryland can apply to be Peer Mentors for the First Year Seminars (either Çï¿ûÊÓƵ 101, in the fall, or Çï¿ûÊÓƵ 301, in the spring)<\/p>\n<p><strong>Students may apply by submitting the following:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>A letter that details their interest<\/li>\n<li>Class standing (students must be a junior or senior in the semester during which they plan to be a peer mentor)<\/li>\n<li>Overall GPA<\/li>\n<li>Why you think you would be a good peer mentor<\/li>\n<li>Resume<\/li>\n<li>Reference (name of one faculty member)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Contact Amanda Taylor at <a href=\"mailto:apheatwole@smcm.edu\">apheatwole@smcm.edu<\/a><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Peer Mentors are an integral part of the new student academic experience at St. Mary\u2019s.
