The deadline for submission is 12 noon on February 26th<\/div>\n<div><i>Students who do not submit the contract will be delayed in selecting housing, will have limited housing options or may be unable to select housing until returning and new students (who apply on time) are assigned.<br \/>\n<\/i>If you are unsure,\u00a0<a title=\"Timeline and Eligibility\" href=\"https:\/\/www.smcm.edu\/residencelife\/room-selection\/timeline-eligibility\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">check eligibility<\/a>. Also, make sure to understand the\u00a0Housing Contract terms and releases.<\/div>\n<div>In the Residence Portal, eligible students will see a blue &#8220;Get Started&#8221; Button on their home screen. To ensure the contract is complete, students must check the &#8220;I Agree&#8221; button at the end of the contract.<\/div>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/sites.google.com\/a\/smcm.edu\/room-selection\/submitting-housing-deposit-and-contract\">View Detailed instructions\u00a0<\/a><\/p>\n<p>The housing contract is binding for the academic year.<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #444444;\">It is important to understand what you are agreeing to when making the commitment to live on campus. All students residing in on campus housing are strongly encouraged to read and understand all policies and resources. This includes your\u00a0<a title=\"Resident Rights &amp; Responsibilities\" href=\"https:\/\/www.smcm.edu\/residencelife\/resources\/rights-responsibilities\/\">rights and responsibilities<\/a>, <a title=\"On Campus Housing Policies\" href=\"https:\/\/www.smcm.edu\/residencelife\/resources\/housing-policies\/\"> housing policies<\/a>. and\u00a0<a title=\"Damage Billing\" href=\"https:\/\/www.smcm.edu\/residencelife\/moving\/damage-billing\/\">damage billing.<\/a><\/span><\/p>\n<h2>Housing Contract Releases<\/h2>\n<p>Students graduating in December or participating in an approved off-campus program (for example, Study Abroad) are automatically released from the contract. All other requests are reviewed on a case-by-case basis and releases are granted only in exceptional circumstances. Students requesting a release from the housing contract without any penalties for the 2023-2024 academic year must submit the <a href=\"https:\/\/docs.google.com\/a\/smcm.edu\/forms\/d\/e\/1FAIpQLSfuUVsad2z_XXphmqsKj5EbW80xjLhTJOFniB8ICb-jIKPUwg\/viewform\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Housing Contract Release Request Form<\/a> by 4:00 p.m. on June 1 (or December 1 for Spring only cancellations). This policy is also in effect for students wishing to commute, transfer, withdraw, or take a leave of absence.<\/p>\n<p>Fees are assessed as follows:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Fall Semester Cancellations between June 2 \u2013 July 1 will be assessed 10% of the housing fee.\n<ul>\n<li>Spring Semester Cancellations between December 2 \u2013 January 1 will be assessed 10% of the housing fee.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li>Cancellations between July 2 \u2013 Move-In Weekend will be assessed 20% of the housing fee.\n<ul>\n<li>Spring Semester Cancellations between January 2 \u2013 Move-In Weekend will be assessed 20% of the housing fee.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>After the start of the semester, the college&#8217;s standard refund rate will apply.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Submitting the Housing Contract Beginning February 1, eligible students may submit a housing contract through the Residence Portal.
