Composting is currently available for townhouse residents, who maintain compost buckets collected weekly by our Green Systems interns. The collected food scraps are brought to the Kate Chandler Campus Community Farm, where they are transformed into compost that enriches soil and supports campus food production.

This program builds on existing efforts and is part of a broader USDA SARE funded initiative to expand composting access across campus in the coming months and years.

If you are interested in participating, need a compost bucket, or have questions about what can be composted, please contact sustainability@smcm.edu

A SMCM-specific grant available for community members who have a proposal that will increase campus sustainability, especially as it pertains to cost-savings for the college. You can read more about it and find the application.
